If case conversion is enabled on a field, users should be able to override it during data entry by prefixing their text with a designated special character.

Module / Feature

ichris

Reason for Suggestion

There are situations where case conversion is not appropriate, and an easy way to override it is needed. For example, when Proper Case is applied to DET Preferred Name, staff who use initials such as “JJ” or “AJ” have their names converted to “Jj” or “Aj.” Having to repeatedly switch case conversion on or off for these exceptions can be burdensome, particularly for ichris users who are unfamiliar with the DMA screen.

Expected Benefits

By entering a special character at the start of the text, users can override case conversion when it is enabled for a field. This would work in a similar way to the override function used for the TIM and NPA account code fields.
